He will return with his immense heart, with his heart of fire, his poor man's soul
and his smile. He will return! And the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph!

FOR FRANCE TO LIVE, GOD SERVED FIRST
BY THE CATHOLIC COUNTER-REFORMATION

The 2007 Candlemas procession with the Abbé de Nantes, our Father: « Our self effacement is the most powerful means we have of uniting ourselves to Jesus and of doing good to souls. » (Bl. Charles de Foucauld, 1 December 1916)

The Pious Recreation” presented by the children for Epiphany proved to be extraordinarily topical this year, when  2007 began, “a year of all dangers”. France is shackled; we must appeal to Joan of Arc, more than in 1895 when St. Thérèse composed this plea to her « dear sister », putting these words on France’s lips:

O Joan, remember that you saved France!

Like an angel from Heaven, you alleviate my suffering.

Listen in the night

To France who is moaning:

Now, far from you, I suffer and sigh,

Deign save me again!... Joan, sweet martyr!...

Oh! Come break my shackles!...

Next 13 May, Sunday, 13 May 2007, will be a providential opportunity for us to renew this appeal to Joan of Arc by combining it with the appeal to Our Lady of Fatima. Ninety years ago to the day – Sunday, 13 May 1917 – Our Lady came to make known to us that God wants to establish in the world devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. A sign from Heaven gives us assurance that France is predestined to give the example of this devotion. This Sunday, 13 May will in fact also be the anniversary of the smile that the Blessed Virgin gave to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, a smile that delivered her from a mysterious diabolical possession (13 May 1883, Pentecost Sunday).

Today France is truly in the grip of the Devil. First, according to a recent survey, she is now only halfCatholic”: one Frenchman out of two declares himself Catholic, compared to 80 % in 1990, and 69 % in 2000. The fall is dizzying… a fall to where? to Hell?

Furthermore, one “Catholic” out of two believes in God! And the others? The other “Catholics”? Thirty-one percent say that they « do not know » whether God exists. They are agnostics. Seventeen percent say that they « do not believe in God ». They are atheists!

And Jesus Christ? What idea do they have of Jesus Christ? « I accuse progressivism of separating us from Jesus Christ » the Abbé de Nantes wrote in 1960. Today the facts accuse a disoriented or conniving hierarchy, even as it buries with grand pomp the one whom our Father designated the emblematic figure of this new antichrist religion. « As for the modern Gospel – well I see it all in the old photograph of the Abbé Pierre in Témoignage chrétien that was taken when he was a parliamentary deputy. With his beard and eyes moist with tears raised to Heaven, he was presenting a bill for conscientious objection! That is how they represent Jesus Christ and His cares. That is Renan’s Jesus, an empty-hearted, sentimental figure, yet brimming with fanaticism and eager to overturn the old order. » (Letter to My Friends 77, Nov. 1960)

This could be read in Valeurs actuelles on 2 February, from the pen of an Algerian refugee: « Abbé Pierre is dead… Tears are being shed in abundance, sometimes crocodile tears… While hundreds of thousands of his compatriots had lost everything and found themselves on the wharfs and in the stations of Marseilles or elsewhere, with no roof over their heads, having saved only their lives, exposed to the worst winter of the century, this friend of humanity said no word of compassion and performed no act of charity… I am pied-noir, and I have a good memory! »

We will confine ourselves to this funeral oration. I will speak no further about this nauseating individual who has blood on his hands for having been a member of the cnr (Conseil National de la Résistance [National Council of the Resistance] and having participated actively in the purge in 1944; he joined the crs, giving his « spiritual support » to the fln. Requiescat in pace !

DIABOLICAL DISORIENTATION

As Sister Lucy says, there is no middle course. Either we are for God, or we are for the Devil. Secular, republican France is thus handed over to the Devil. An irrefutable sign of this is that attacks on churches have multiplied these last months.

But it is quite easy for the Devil, since the minds and souls of French youth have been disposed from infancy to be subject to his suggestions through the “Global Method”, a Communist pedagogical method whose devastating effects are perfectly known. In other words, what Our Lady of Fatima calls the « errors of Russia » are in the process of irreparably upsetting the minds of our children.

This “method” consists of presenting the child, from the first lesson, either a complete sentence or a short text that the teacher reads three times. After hearing this reading, the child must read it from memory and guess which words correspond to what he is reading, i.e., he must discover which representation in writing and vocalisation correspond to one another.

In other words, his memory must “photograph” the words that are presented to him as pictures. Now, since the 1980s we know that image recognition is a function reserved to the right hemisphere of the brain, while the left hemisphere recognises sounds.

Thus, the right hemisphere works by means of analogy: it compares pictures to each other, while the left hemisphere works by means of analysis and synthesis of script and sounds. This is significant because in our alphabetic language the letters represent sounds.

By assimilating script to picture, the global method atrophies the left hemisphere, and this is why our children no longer know how to read: they must recognise words by guessing, proceed by hypothesis… Cerebral circuits are disturbed distressed, or even “blocked”. The intelligence does not learn how to work normally when one learns his language and how to read it by means of the so-called “global method”. The damage is irreparable.

This is how and why for fifty years the number of children said to be “academic failures” has multiplied. These children find themselves condemned to expulsion, unemployment, and marginalisation.

Eighty % of French schools use this method, which was imposed by the Langevin-Wallon commission after the “liberation”: two Communist ministers who had decided to change the world by changing pedagogy in such a way as to eliminate parents from the equation. Thus, all children will find themselves « free, equal and fraternal »… And everyone toed the line! It was, Bayrou said in 1998, « the way to fight social injustice »… Indeed, by reducing everyone to the state of illiterates.

All the more has this been the case since the global reading method was “perfected”. In 1980, it became “silent and rapid”. The word has been separated from reading and writing. Now, thought is determined by word, as the Abbé de Nantes explained to his students of philosophy. If animals do not speak, it is because they have nothing to say, since they do not think. When one thinks of something, he says it to others. Language has first an individual role, a role to finalise precision and fix his ideas; then a social role to conjure up this or that idea in the mind of another person. Language shortens demonstrations and makes them explicit. It addresses itself directly to intelligence. It is proof that the spirit exists, a notion that is inadmissible for a materialist, yet inescapable; it is a proof that our Father brought perfectly to light « To finish with Konrad Lorenz »:

« It is language that distances the small child from the young chimpanzee. Language supposes a larynx, a whole set of organs that only man possesses. Would the organ have created the function through chance and necessity? Or would the function have created the organ? These discussions are totally void of sense. The organs were necessary and the function needed programming. But it is reason, the human soul’s faculty of abstraction, of which all other animals are radically incapable, for which they show no appetite, that is the proper cause of language.

« The neo-Darwinians find in this their stumbling block, which is why they passionately reject this absolutely important theological fact. As the saying goes, you can take the horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. And one who is wilfully blind cannot be made to see, even by miracle. Language is the proof of mind, of spirit; how can a materialist admit that?

« Through language, man has definitely freed himself from the servitude of specific stimulations and from instinctive behaviour patterns programmed by dna. Thereafter, man is “informed” by what he is told and by what is inculcated into him with the aid of abstract symbols. He is “freed”, in order to act in accordance with his own representations, learned or invented. Cerebral development thereby gains, because social stimuli are infinitely more numerous and varied than natural stimuli. From being intrinsic and hereditary, information becomes extrinsic and social, through the device of instruction. » (CCR n144, March 1982, p. 15)

Consequence: « One decisive factor intervenes in the rearing of the young by their human parents, and that is language! Language, which of itself testifies to reason, affectivity and will in man, is also for him a privileged means of altruistic expansion. »

This is why « a child must be given very early the habit of putting his various perceptions into words. He must speak to see, hear touch, manipulate consciously. This is why it is useful during infancy for babies’ carriages to face their mothers », Elisabeth Nuyts explains in a remarkable book published in 2006 entitled “L’école des illusionnistes”, in the chapter Preventive Measures and Remedies:

« The child’s mother serves as a reassuring intermediary between the world and himself; by drawing his attention to what is to be seen, touched, and understood in the world she makes him discover. Sensorial discrimination of the very young is too unrefined for him to take advantage on his own of the spectacle that is offered to him, when he faces away from mother towards the outside world. It is in a talkative and smiling face-to-face with his mother that he can gradually emerge from the haziness of infancy. »

The Abbé de Nantes also said this marvellously, « To finish with Teilhard »:

« Professor Grassé has taught us that it is by means of language that the formation of the brain is complete and that human intelligence is freed from its biological conditioning and can pass from the animal flock to human community.

« I prefer to leave this said by Sherwood Washburg, an unconditional Darwinian, who cannot be suspected of biblical concordism. He, just as we too, places the scientifically observable new development, from animal to man, in the gift of language. Read this:

« “The word, more than any other form of behaviour, is that which differentiates man from the other animals. Unfortunately, despite many ingenious attempts at investigation, the origins of the word remain mysterious. There is no proof of its presence or of its absence among the fossil record. Archaeological documents, however, provide a few indications. The observed phenomena of the last 40,000 years of pre-history can only have been set in motion by the development of the word as we know it today. Man was certainly not mute during the greater part of his evolution (remember that the author is a Darwinian), but the appearance of an increased capacity for verbal communication must have been the gift (I emphasise gift, but the gift of whom? and how?) that led to the extraordinary expansion of modern man, Homo sapiens-sapiens.” (p. 106)

« I love to recall, our Father adds, that charming vision in the Book of Genesis where Yahweh-God “at the break of day” taught them “to give names to all the animals” (2.19-20) and revealed to them the meaning of their existence and of His law (1.29-30; 2.17). » (CCR n° 145, April 1982, p. 21)

THE ONLY REMEDY: THE CATHOLIC COUNTER-REFORMATION

« As little birds learn to sing by listening to their parents, St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus used to say, even children learn knowledge of virtue, the sublime chant of divine Love, from the souls charged with forming them for life. » (Manuscript A, 53 v) This was the office of teaching congregations in Christendom, before the revolution that drove God from schools. We must therefore urgently bring Him back…

But if parents themselves no longer believe? « As for Soline, the mother of little seven-year old Damien at Vierzon, she hesitates to register her child in catechism, although he is baptised. Soline does not attend her parish. “I myself do not really believe, she said; it seems difficult to convince him of the opposite in order to encourage him to go…” » (Le Figaro, 12 February 2007)

And how can she believe if she understands that Pope Benedict XVI himself considers the « faithful » of the three « monotheisms » to be equally « believers », and their « three books » to be equally « sacred ». He once again “confessed” it last month by receiving a delegation from the “Foundation for Interreligious and Intercultural Research and Dialogue”, who had come to offer him « a joint edition in their original language and in chronological order » of what he calls the « three Sacred Books of the three monotheistic religions »:

« As I have said on several occasions, Benedict XVI declared, in continuation with the Conciliar Declaration Nostra Aetate and with my beloved predecessor, Pope John Paul II, we, Jews, Christians and Muslims are called to develop the bonds that unite us. » (Thursday, 1 February 2007)

Thus, not only does the Pope consider the Qur’an to be a « sacred book » just like the Bible, but he also recognises the Old Testament as the property of today’s Talmudic and antichrist “Judaism”: it is truly the height of « disorientation » to have a Pope who dissociates the Old Testament from the New and who turns towards Mecca to pray « in order to give a new impetus to interreligious and intercultural dialogue by means of our common research and by highlighting and disseminating everything in our respective spiritual heritages that helps to strengthen fraternal ties between our communities of believers. »

As for us, we must once again affirm our exact, Catholic Christian belief in one single revelation, for only one Book in the world can be considered, without some manner of mental dislocation, as divine revelation: the Bible, the combined Old and New Testament are a single witness to unprecedented events on which is rightly founded the faith of innumerable Christians as well as their devotion to the peace and happiness of nations.

Brother Bruno of Jesus.

THE ABBÉ PIERRE: FROM LOVE TO THE “CAUSE”

The death of the Abbé Pierre at Val-de-Grâce hospital, Monday, 22 January of this year, triggered streams of crocodile tears. Let us not enter into this easy concert of “good consciences”, if only out of respect for the deceased himself!

Brother Henri Grouès is better known by the name that he adopted during the Resistance, the Abbé Pierre; he remains the image of an ardent soul. His heartrending calls in the winter of 1954 to come to the aid of the homeless who were dying in the street from hunger and cold disturbed public opinion as much as the political world. It nevertheless led them to give consideration to a concrete and sorrowful problem other than with words. The work of the rag-pickers of Emmaus has since then brought together remarkable devotion. It is a good thing for present-day society, which is devoted to mercantilism, hedonism and egoism, to be shaken through and through from time to time…

The only thing is that the Abbé Pierre triggered great media attention that in no way improved modern society. The proof is that fifty years later, we still count just as many destitute people having to sleep out-of-doors. This is, of course, due to the negligence of politicians whose attention-catching flowers on the Abbé’s coffin are all the more indecent. But the ecclesiastic himself, for anyone who wants to see him as he was and not through a myth, remains a case of intellectual failure.

PROPHETISM.

Henri Grouès, who was born on 15 August 1912 into a bourgeois, Catholic family that very seriously practiced the Faith and entered the Capuchins of Saint-Étienne at the age of nineteen. Devoting all his energy to prayer and adoration, he gradually felt his strength failing and his heath declining. To his great regret, he had to leave the order and in 1940 became curate of the cathedral of Grenoble. Jean-Michel Hardy, in the Certitudes review (January 1994), described him at that time: « He is as though weaned from this Absolute to which he sacrificed all… an orphan of the good God. And, paradoxically, the war allowed him to rediscover his fervour for the ideal. » Involved in the Resistance in the Vercors, the “Cause” would not be long in invading his ardent heart and becoming identified with his overflowing love.

When he became an MRP deputy, he voted against a bill of amnesty for collaborators who were still minors. He refused to defend Catholic schools that were in danger of dying out in the fifties. Ideology had totally warped him; he was no longer able to conceive that the heart was not left-wing…

This is when he began his action in favour of the homeless. It was concrete action that saved lives, as we have said, but in him generosity was invaded by a sort of left-wing prophetism. When the poor become a “Cause”, they are no longer loved for themselves…

He was seen advocating conscientious objection (during the war in Indo China!), making impassioned speeches, participating in campaigns full of hatred for France… This did not improve with age: in 1996 with the militants of Right to Housing, he participated in the occupation of Saint Bernard’s Church. He was heard to inveigh against the rich. He even went as far as getting bogged down in his Communist friendships to the extent of supporting the revisionist Roger Garaudy. A media blunder? He was quick to make up for it by making rather surprising remarks about which the media revelled. He was in favour of condoms, marriage for priests, and women’s ordination; and he, a priest, also flattered himself on having experienced sexual pleasure.

It is a curious fate for a man who, unable to remain a monk, satisfied his overflowing love in a revolutionary discourse, and ended up being for the media the sublime image of the priest and the man most praised to the skies.

THE SENSE OF SERVICE

He will not succeed in effacing for us the image of St. Vincent de Paul for whom the love of the poor refrained from any feelings of hatred for other men, for it is by restoring the sense of service in the upper classes that one offers to the poor better chances to be protected. The Abbé Pierre left for posterity a law that will perhaps bear his name. (a law that would make it illegal for proprietors to refuse to rent to a person needing somewhere to live) but it was only a law that envisaged the problem of housing in conflicting terms that does not reflect a healthy society. To preach a libertarian ideology that prevents renewing the natural bonds between men and with the nation means letting the destitute wallow in their bitterness.

Now that he has reached his final resting place, to the sound of the Gregorian chant of his youth that he stated in his will that he wanted to have chanted at his funeral, it is no longer incumbent on us to judge him. It is better to pray for him far from the obligatory, secular din.
