Rivière des Pluies, so called because water only flows there during the rainy season, from November to March.

At the bottom right, the church built by Fr. Monnet in the form of a Latin cross, then a little above, in the form of an upside down U, the first mother house where the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary was founded.

The stony land was given to them by Charles Desbassayns, from his properties on Rivière des Pluies. They lived there very poorly, doing good under the gaze of God. The Daughters of Mary have the motto: “Holy Daughter of Mary or die”.

From Riviere des Pluies, one can go to La Ressource by travelling five kilometres of winding roads. On the photograph, the parish is halfway up, above to the left, at an altitude of 300 metres.

The present diamond-shaped church of La Ressource is located a little below the three buildings situated at the bottom left, built on the site of the Jesuit seminary.
